I guess I'd better explain what happened. Basically, it was after a particularly bad MC run where I had half the raid whispering me saying what should have been done better / how upset they were with the run / letting me know they might be applying for another guild / etc (ie, the usual grumbling). My girlfriend was with me and had recently been nagging me about spending so much time on the game, so I made some comment to her along the lines of "ach, sometimes I'd like to be just a normal raider - all I have to do is type /gdisband and it's all over" (typing out "/gdisband" as I was saying it). She pressed return. I was pretty shocked when the guild was, as you know, disbanded. For future reference, there is no confirmation dialog box - it's just /gdisband and that's it. There is also no way to undo disbanding a guild, either via an in-game mechanism or with Blizzard's help. They can't or won't do a rollback or similar - I mailed support in-game and out with predictable replies one a form mail saying "ask in-game", the other a form mail saying "we can't help reform guilds". Bit of a fucker that. A lot of people immediately jumped over to other guilds -- I've been told by a lot of guild members that they immediately received multiple whispers asking if they'd like to join another guild -- and others who were already thinking about leaving CoA decided this was the time to go, but the guild has been reformed and most of the people have rejoined. Initially the guild was reformed as "CoA" due to the fact that only an ex-Guild Master can create another guild with the same name as a disbanded guild (so unscrupulous characters don't sully the good name of past guilds), but Citizens of Azeroth proper is now back in action. Thanks to all the people who offered support and kind words. Thanks especially to Crematicus, Feedel, and everyone else who helped get people back together afterwards and are continuing to keep the guild organised. Good luck to all the ex-guild members who are now in other guilds. We've always said that if people are happier off elsewhere then they should go - the whole point is to enjoy the game. Personally, I've been Guild Master of Citizens of Azeroth for 6 months or so, and am taking a break so I can play the game more for myself. It's been fun, but everyone needs a break sometime, heh. Incidentally, the Citizens of Azeroth site is at http://www.citizens-of-azeroth.com/ by the way. http://coa.prague.tv/ or http://www.coa.prague.tv/ go to the same place, though.
